David B. Wakefield specializes in estate planning, business planning, and post-death administrations. He works with a broad range of clients — from young families selecting guardians for their minor children to experienced business owners preparing succession plans and planning for retirement.
David attended Michigan State University, earning a degree in Finance with Honors through the Wealth Management and Financial Planning program — completing coursework in Estate and Income Tax Planning, Principles of Insurance and Risk Management, and Financial Planning and Wealth Management.
He then earned his law degree from Wayne State University Law School while simultaneously working as a probate law clerk, an elder law student attorney at a legal aid clinic, a teaching assistant for Wayne State's Trusts and Estates course, and part-time for multiple estate planning firms — including Wakefield Law, PC. This rare combination of academic and hands-on experience prepared him for sophisticated client work from his first day in practice.
David has appeared on the Michigan State University Wealth Management Association podcast and has spoken on estate planning for numerous financial companies and nonprofit organizations. He is a member of the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester's Young Leaders committee, participates in the Alzheimer's Association Walk Planning Committee, and is actively involved with the Troy, Clarkston, and Rochester Chambers of Commerce. Outside the office, David enjoys Michigan State and Detroit sports, mountain biking, running, and northern Michigan.
Our Shared Commitment
Across all four of our attorneys, you'll find these principles guiding every client interaction, every document drafted, and every plan delivered.
No two families are alike. Every plan we create reflects the specific goals, values, and circumstances of the individual client — never a one-size-fits-all document.
Legal documents are complex. Our job is to make sure you fully understand every word you sign and every decision you make — no jargon, no guessing.
Quality estate planning should be accessible to all Michigan and Florida families — not just the ultra-wealthy. We discuss costs openly and never surprise you.
Your first consultation is complimentary — no obligation, no pressure, just answers.
